On September 11th America suffered a savage blow
The Twin Towers, the Pentagon- fires aglow.
Radicals from afar with a vision of chaos
Murdering thousands of innocents, unthinkable loss.
The shock, the horror, reoccurring images surreal
Awoke the sleeping giant, the pain so real.
Heroes were born from all walks of life
They searched for women, children, husbands, and wives.
But we came together seeking sense to this strife
We analyzed our priorities, questioned the meaning of life.
Yes, on September 11th the towers truly fell
For many a glimpse, some semblance of hell.
True we as Americans were shaken and down
Yes we were shocked, our fears did abound.
This cowardly attack birthed our blackest day
So together we embraced and as one we prayed.
No way the enemy would perceive how strong Americans believe
In the red, white, and blue- a symbol together we achieved.
United we stand, divided we fall
All for one and in America one for all.
These are the basics that made us so great
Our morals and values we'll never negate.
I'm so proud to be one with all that we've become
Blessed we've been and God bless what's to come.
We'll do what's right, challenging it will be
But forever together we'll always be free.
God Bless America
